Fade Ogunro is the founder and CEO of Bookings Africa, an online talent service provider in Africa. She also serves as the Africa Chairperson for the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, a foundation that helps discover women entrepreneurs in low and middle-income countries, where she develops initiatives that directly empower women to start, sustain, and grow successful businesses. So far, over 45,000 women in Nigeria have been impacted.
Fade started her career in 2011 as the co-founder of Film Factory Productions, a company that created content for brands like Microsoft, Coca-Cola, MTV, etc. In 2018, she founded Bookings Africa, a gig marketplace that offers virtual and physical services.
The mission of Bookings Africa is to reduce unemployment and encourage creativity among African youths. As of 2021, the platform has over 250,000 app downloads and 85,000 registered users in Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa.
When asked by Lioness of Africa what the biggest piece of advice she can give to other women looking to start up is, she said: “My advice to women looking to start up is to Measure twice, cut once. I advise you to know as much as you can about your business so as to put your best forward when you finally get started”.
She hopes Bookings Africa will be the preferred digital work platform in Africa and scale up to 15-20 African countries in the next 5-10 years with over 3 million active users with more professions.
